A Band-Aid for the Hulk

A Band-Aid for The Hulk

Band-Aid is the Brand Name for the American Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson's adhesive line of bandages and other products. Band-Aid has been in the market for over 9 decades after being introduced in the 1920's by a Johnson & Johnson's employee for his wife. Johnson & Johnson's always have had commercial success with their themed Band-Aid's such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Superman, Spiderman etc which were tremendously famous for the kids and were targeted at the younger market. It had become a trend to wear different characters Band-Aid's at school and show your friends, who in fact would be sporting a different character as well - I remember doing it.

So, the Flexible Fabric Band-Aid needed an advertising campaign which could highlight the its USP which is flexibility. The Brand name is quite famous enough for it sell without showcasing its uses but the market is an uncertain place and the customer sometimes may not be ready for the new change or a product extension unless he feels completely sure what it's about and that will only happen with some strong advertising and PR skills (marketing in short). This particular print ad has the hulk sporting a Band-Aid on his finger - which looked like Band-Aid's idea showcasing the flexibility of new Band-Aid as The Hulk's Finger can be assumed to be the size of a normal person's Forearm. You can come with plenty of assumptions for this print ad campaign as your imaginations runs wild after seeing this, such as - Bruce Banner was using the Band-Aid and after transforming into the Hulk his shit was torn-off except for his pants and Band-Aid (maybe the pants are made out of the same material? or he wears maternity pants?). Or you can also presume that the Hulk needs a Band-Aid too as he too nurses his cuts with utmost care and hygiene.

No doubt that Band-Aid has come up with a fine print ad and will be coming up with something unique in the future. To conclude, would Mr Fantastic (Fantastic Four Captain) been a better choice?

Decoding Google Analytics : Metrics and Dimensions

Google Analytics is vastly growing out to be the most widely used tool to determine performance for eCommerce businesses. It may seem a daunting task to understand Google Analytics but as far as understanding any subject its easy once you get the hang of it.

Google Analytics displays two types of data Dimensions & Metrics. Dimensions are characteristics of users and their sessions. The dimensions are usually qualitative data whereas the Metrics are quantitative measurements, sums, averages and ratios to describe human behavior which consists of page visits, conversion rates, sales, volumes etc. Metrics are numerical data, if you need any detailed info on the same -click here.

Inclass Assignment part 2

After looking back at a few blogs of my fellow classmates, its great to see most them had a co-op filled with learning and some fun too. It may sound a cliched but as they say if you love what you do then work seems fun, and most of them have had such experiences. From what I can see from my colleague Luv Sharma, if you go through his blog you can see all the wonderful work he has been part of and can sense the enjoyment he derived from it.

Such can also be said to a few other classmates of mine who worked in different companies inheriting a different sense of work ethic and a learning curve which would shape their careers in the future. I'm adding the links to the blogs of couple of my classmates below. Browse through it for fun and see what they had to say and felt about their experiences.

The Inclass assignment

Disclaimer: The following post is a part of my in class assignment

CO-OP or internship is an integral part of any program as it gives you the hands on experience in the industry and the individual is exposed to the raw ideas in the business world. One should have certain expectations and learning objectives of what they would want to achieve in their desired job. I as such had certain expectations and objectives from my internship company (ideacious.com).

Learning never stops and for me it was a humbling experience while working as a Social Media Marketing intern at Ideacious Inc. I believe my internship experience has taught me a great deal in confidence, for if I was to walk on my first day on job I know what I have to do and get it done, won't seem lost. Having worked on launching a new product (31BLK) to launching its website (31BLK.com), I've definitely come a long way in the last four months.
